Sketches and compositions are recorded as direct observation in drawing pads with aquarelle and oil pastels. The iPhone 11 Pro is used to edit both photos and sketch compositions.
The ideas are transferred to gesso primed cotton canvas that has been toned with oil pigments. Multi-media binders are used with traditional oil or homemade paint and dry pigments. After a light sketch with oil pastel on canvas, glazes, scumbling and palette combinations are sometimes adhered with texture such as sand or shells.
Drips and splatter are used in an aggressive fashion to amplify the emotional intensity of the subject. Different binders are planned in a strategic placement for the viewer to experience different light reflections and effects as they walk by the piece.
